ABOUT BURNOUT :
Burnout is the official post-Burning Man Decompression event for Portland, Oregon and the surrounding areas. The goal for this event is to provide an opportunity for local Burners to host art, build community, inspire creativity, perform and enjoy music, and create memories as they return from the Playa/decompress from the Burning Man season (or consider attending next year).

POSITION SUMMARY:
The 2024 Burnout Producer(s) will partner with a returning Producer and collaborate with the Precipitation Northwest Board to create, plan, schedule and manage the Decompression event. An ideal candidate will be interested in learning from the production team in their first year and returning as a seasoned Producer for subsequent event years.
The Producer team is responsible for event planning, scheduling venues, selecting artists and entertainers, filing necessary permits, hiring and managing department leads, coordinating volunteers and actively participating in day of event activities. They’ll maintain budgets, plan meetings with the production team (Producers, Leads, and Precipitation NW), and act as a point of contact and reference for event vendors.
The Producers also manage the administrative functions of the event and tracking of participants, vendors, contracts, expenses and ticket revenue. Work is primarily remote with periodic in person meetings at the Burner Barn or event venue.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage leads, volunteers, artists, and participants, and serve as point of contact for vendors and permits.
MUST HAVES:
Familiarity with Burning Man, SOAK, Burnout or other Burning Man sanctioned events
Understanding of the Ten Principles and ability to apply them in business and event planning decisions.
Excellent decision making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Collaborative nature and openness to sharing responsibilities with Co-Producers
Experience managing staff or volunteers; willingness to delegate
Personal computer, access to the internet, and cell phone with ability to frequently check and respond via multiple electronic communication platforms.
NICE TO HAVES:
Proficiency in Google Suite
Ability to fill, track, and secure permits and the permitting process
Ability to prepare and facilitate meetings
Event production experience or event leadership experience
Experience leading teams of 5 or more volunteers
Personal transportation, or the ability to acquire transportation for meetings in and outside of the Portland metro area
Familiarity with municipal agencies and processes
TIME COMMITMENT:
Burnout takes place in early October. The Producer should expect to spend at least 60 hours on production work in the several weeks leading up to the event date. The work will require a significant degree of collaboration via online communication tools, as well as potential in-person meetings and visits to the event site. This role is best for people with availability in August, September and October, and the Producer will be on call for the day and night of Burnout.
COMPENSATION:
The Producer role is voluntary (unpaid), except for administrative support, travel, or accommodation costs incurred as a direct result of Producer duties.
The Producer receives one free entry (plus guest) to Burnout.
