Current Producer Search:

Precipitation Northwest is seeking one to two people to join an existing team of one returning Producer for SOAK*2025. A commitment to the one-year event cycle, beginning in October 2024 and ending in June 2025, is required. An ideal candidate will be interested in learning from the production team in their first year and returning as a seasoned Producer for subsequent event years.

Once hired, SOAK Producers will open up searches for additional volunteer support on the leadership team. If you are interested in volunteering SOAK leadership outside of the Producer level, check soakpdx.com later this fall.

Position Summary:

SOAK Producers serve as points of contact and overall managers of the largest Regional Burning Man event in the Pacific Northwest. They are responsible for overseeing and managing event production, logistics and budgets year-round. They partner with the Precipitation Northwest Board of Directors on strategic elements of event production such as budget, permitting and vendor management. They lead tactical event production by inspiring and directing volunteer department leadership and making decisions on all aspects of event organization and production.

The Producers have the opportunity to fill a critical leadership role in creating a memorable experience for thousands of participants while working alongside Burning Man artists, theme camps, and our wonderful and creative community.

Must Haves:

  • Familiarity with Burning Man culture.

  • Good organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to maintain time commitments.

  • Ability to manage diverse personalities.

  • A personal computer, access to the internet and cell phone with ability to frequently check and respond via multiple electronic communication platforms.

  • Personal transportation or the ability to acquire transportation.

  • Experience in SOAK, Burning Man, or other Regional Burn and festival leadership (volunteer or otherwise).

Nice to haves (or a willingness to learn):

  • Experience producing events.

  • Experience coordinating teams.

  • Experience working with local municipalities and county permitting processes.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Gmail and Slack.

  • Experience managing remote meetings including video conferencing.

Time committment:

  • Year-round administrative duties: up to 10 hours per week.

  • 6 to 3 months prior to the event: up to 15 hours per week.

  • 3 months to 2 weeks prior to the event: up to 25 hours per week.

  • 2 weeks prior to the event: up to 30 hours per week.

  • During event: on call 24 hours, and stay until the last person is out unless arrangements have been made with Leave No Trace team.

Compensation:

  • Entry +1 to SOAK*2025.

  • Travel reimbursement to site and other meetings.

  • Work related travel expense reimbursements, amount set annually.
