Announcing new Board Members for 2022!

We are pleased to announce three new members of Precipitation Northwest's Board of Directors for 2022. We are excited to have such qualified and enthusiastic individuals joining the PNW team!

Every fall, the Precipitation Northwest board interviews interested applicants for open board member positions. Board member terms are typically three years.

Returning to the Precipitation Northwest board of directors are Danielle Parks, Molly Harpel, Kristin Stankiewicz, Alexander LaVake, Michelle David and Dina Moy. New to the board this year are Krista Basis, Pope Tart, and Patrice Mackey. We encourage you to read more about our board members! You can find their photos, bios, and committee involvement on our Board of Directors page.

We would like to greatly thank Dale Lucht, who retired from the PNW board as of the end of 2021. Dale’s hard work over the past several years built a strong foundation for Precipitation Northwest to continue to grow and thrive.

Burner Barn Open for Community Holiday Projects!

Do you need a little extra privacy or space to wrap up some gifts? Perhaps space, tools or a hand to put the finishing touches on that hand-made or DIY gift? Gifting a bike and regretting not getting it assembled there? Just escape your house guests for a bit?

To help with that we’ll be having Burner Barn Open Hours over the next three weeks! We spread it over different days and times to hopefully facilitate your needs.

Tools will be charged, big table space available, hands for holding or helping available, and some wrapping supplies in case you need a redo and are at the end of your roll.

The barn will be open at the time listed and can stay open longer than listed end times if need be. The Barn has open airflow and plenty of room for distancing as needed.

OPEN HOURS:
Dec 12th, 12pm - 2pm
Dec 15th, 4pm - 6pm
Dec 20th, 6pm - 8pm

And, if you’d just like to meet your Burner Barn Manager, to say hi, discuss any ideas you may have or just want to have a beer, this is a great opportunity to do so.

Samuel, Barn Manager, can be reached at: burner.barn@precipitationnw.org

Social Impact Jam - Friday September 3rd

SOCIAL IMPACT JAM

Friday Sep 3rd; 2pm - 5pm

Description: Social Impact Jam is an event series held in rotating public locations throughout Portland. Participants work to improve public spaces while a guest DJ plays music and a guest artist paints portraits. There is a self-care station with great snacks, places to sit, and voluntary massage trade. Each event culminates in a dance party where participants can celebrate their shared effort and positive impact on the space!

COVID protocols: The events are held outside to reduce risk. That said, we ask that participants bring a mask to use when in close proximity with others, and follow CDC guidelines regarding infection prevention.

Partnerships: Eco-munity is partnering with SOLVE and Portland Parks and Recreation, and is supported by Precipitation NorthWest.

What will volunteers be doing this month?: September is focused on beach clean up at Kelley Point Park

How can you help?
1. Participate! SIJ kicks off 2PM on Friday, September 3rd at Kelley Point Park with a beach cleanup.
2. Donate! To help us pay artists fairly and offer inclusive, healthy, delicious snacks to help participants feel good while doing good, please give what you can.
3. Spread the word! Tell your friends and family; impress your cat.
4. Get a ticket! Space is limited; getting your ticket beforehand ensures we will have enough supplies for all participants.

As the Slow Camera Paparazzi, he spends a lot of time painting bands as they play, burlesque performers as they dance, and cosplayers at cons. BurnOut 2021 - Cancelled

Hello Portland Burning Man Community,

Once again, we feel that it is in everyone's best interest for us to cancel BurnOut 2021.

Although we had been excitedly planning this year's edition, this difficult decision was made by our BurnOut producers along with Precipitation Northwest.

After the long and winding past pandemic year, we were excited about bringing this event to the community in a new and innovative way. However, with the return of new variants and increase in hospitalizations, we feel we should postpone planning such a large-scale event.

The Precipitation Northwest board thanks Beacon (Dan Forrester) for his amazing work in planning this event as well as his support through difficult decision-making.

In the meantime, we want to hear from our community on your thoughts on continuing to gather. Woosday has been taking place in-person as an open-air event, but in light of recent spikes in COVID cases we are considering pausing them for the time being. Please let us know your thoughts on this.As board members and Burners, we feel strongly about finding ways to keep us connected. Feel free to reach out to board@precipitationnw.org with additional questions or thoughts.
